Product Description

Produced by hot rolling or cold drawing from stainless steel billet, followed by annealing and pickling to ensure excellent corrosion resistance and uniform mechanical properties. Available shapes: round, square, flat, hexagonal, and angle. Grades: 201, 202, 304, 304L, 316L, 321, 410, 420, 430. Diameter (round): 3mm – 300mm. Square size: 4×4mm – 200×200mm. Flat bar: 3×10mm – 20×200mm. Hexagonal bar: 4mm – 100mm (across flats). Length: 3m – 6m or custom. Surface finish: black (hot rolled), pickled & oiled, bright (cold drawn/ground), or polished (No.4, mirror). Tolerances: hot rolled ±0.5mm, cold drawn ±0.05mm. Manufacturing: hot rolled for large diameters, cold drawn for precision sizes. Optional heat treatment: annealed, solution treated. Meets ASTM A276, A479, JIS G4303, EN 10088, or GB/T 1220 standards.

Application description

Widely used in automotive shafts, fasteners (bolts, screws), machine parts, pumps and valves, food processing equipment, medical instruments, architectural hardware, handrails, and marine components. The corrosion resistance and high strength make it suitable for precision machining, turning, and forging in harsh or sanitary environments.

Production description

Stainless steel billet is heated and hot rolled to approximate shape and size. For larger diameters, the bar is used as-rolled. For precision sizes, the hot rolled bar is further cold drawn through a die (with annealing between passes) to achieve tight tolerances and bright surface. The bar is then straightened, cut to length, and optionally polished or solution annealed. Finished bars are inspected for dimensions, surface quality, and mechanical properties.

Shipping Packaging

For export, stainless steel bars are bundled with interleaved paper or plastic separators, wrapped in VCI paper and moisture-proof polyethylene, packed in wooden crates or on ISPM-15 pallets, secured with steel straps, and fitted with edge protectors. Labels include grade, shape, dimensions, length, and heat number for safe sea freight.

Store on dry wooden racks or plastic supports, keep original wrapping, avoid contact with carbon steel tools or surfaces. For long-term storage, keep VCI paper and moisture-proof cover intact. Clean with stainless steel cleaner before use if any contamination.

2. Can stainless steel bars be machined (turned, drilled, milled) easily?

Yes. Stainless steel bars are suitable for CNC turning, drilling, and milling. Use sharp carbide tools, proper coolant, and moderate speeds to avoid work hardening. Annealed or solution treated bars provide the best machinability.

3. What is the difference between 304 and 316L stainless steel bars for corrosion resistance?

304 offers good general corrosion resistance for most indoor and mild outdoor environments. 316L contains molybdenum, providing superior resistance to chlorides, acids, and marine environments, making it ideal for coastal, chemical, and pharmaceutical applications.
